Transgender Day of Remembrance, which occurs annually on November 20, is a day to memorialize those who have been murdered as a result of transphobia and to bring attention to the continued violence endured by the transgender community.

The Transgender Day of Remembrance was founded in 1999 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith, a trans woman, to memorialize the murder of Rita Hester in Allston, Massachusetts. Since its inception, TDoR has been held annually on November 20, and it has slowly evolved from the web-based project started by Smith into an international day of action. In 2010, TDoR was observed in over 185 cities throughout more than 20 countries.

The SEAGLA-PFLAG Highway Cleanup

Saturday, April 29th, 2017

 Hello, SEAGLA Members and Supporters:

SEAGLA-PFLAG Highway Cleanup is Saturday April 29th. We ask you, along with us, to join JUNEAU's Litter Free Day cleanup effort. Meet up at 10am at Auke Lake boat put-in parking lot just before Fritz Cove Road. We will provide the bags, vests, and gloves. We've been cleaning this spot for 25 years plus so help us continue a gratifying tradition and join us for important community service. And it's fun and last year so many people came we finished in an hour.

Please take time out of your busy schedule to volunteer on this community service project that makes Juneau a better place to live.  Thank you for helping PFLAG to keep Juneau clean and solidify SEAGLA's role as a important collaborative partner and vital non profit community service organization. See you there!

Thank You,

Come Out. Feel Welcomed!
